Sausalito, CA - The Totalwoman.com network,
a vertical content network of web sites for women has added a new
advice column to give women the inside scoop on work and fashion
issues. The career advice column, "Work Life," by Margaret
O. Kirk, joins "Ask Patsy," by Patricia McLaughlin to
provide Totalwoman.com visitors with the opportunity to ask questions
relating to their careers and worklife.
"Work Life" covers all aspects of
life at work, from cubicles to cafeterias. Its author, Kirk, is
an award-winning freelance writer who specializes in business and
medical reporting. Her articles have appeared in newspapers, magazines
and web sites throughout the country, including Good Housekeeping,
MONEY Magazine, The New York Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer, TIME,
Newsweek, The Boston Globe, USA Today, Business Week Online, ibreast.org
and kidshealth.org. Kirk is the author of many corporate and family
histories, and is currently working on a book about couples and
money.
The "Ask Patsy" fashion column answers
questions on the ins and outs of how to dress for business and social
occasions. Its author, Patricia McLaughlin, writes a weekly column
on style that appears in the Philadelphia Inquirer Magazine and
via Universal Press Syndicate in 100 newspapers in the U.S. and
Canada. McLaughlin writes about issues related to human appearance
and fashion trends. McLaughlin covers topics that are current, 'will
business suits one day mainly be rented for weddings, the way morning
coats are now'; to the entertaining, 'where did clothes hangers
come from?'.
McLaughlin previously wrote for Vogue Magazine,
the Philadelphia Evening and Sunday Bulletin. Her essays and feature
stories have been published in Mirabella, The Washington Post, The
New York Times Magazine, Philadelphia Magazine and Rolling Stone.
Totalwoman.com, was launched one year ago by online advertising
sales firm Cybereps to showcase the best of the web in an easy to
view format. The site's affiliates, numbering more than 30, span
interests ranging from stress-relief and advice, dating and romance,
Internet tutorials, health and nutrition, and the latest in the
world of entertainment.
Crystal Gurin, Executive Vice President of Cybereps,
publisher of Totalwoman, notes, "We launched Totalwoman.com
last April to be an easy-to-navigate site for women to turn to gain
information on everything from pregnancy to entertainment. With
the addition of 'Work Life', we have added another tool for our
visitors to use to enhance their lives. Margaret Kirk is a welcome
addition to our network, with the kind of credentials needed to
attract the attention of our audience and our advertisers."
The new advice column is the second such column on the site. The
fashion advice column, 'Ask Patsy' was introduced when the website
was launched.
Gurin adds, "The response to 'Ask Patsy'
has been terrific, and we know that 'Work Life' will have a similar
impact. Our advertisers can now further target our visitors through
sponsorships and advertising that reaches women interested in fashion,
