The Discovery Channel Uses Streaming Media to Promote Upcoming Documentary
New York: Cybereps, an Interep
Company, (NASDAQ: IREP) announced today that The Discovery Channel,
a client of the Creative Media agency, has added streaming advertising
to its overall media plan, which includes network and spot radio.
This marks a high-profile example of a so-called "traditional" advertiser,
meaning not a dot-com or Internet-related company, allocating additional
media dollars to streaming media.
The Discovery Channel's current
campaign is to promote an upcoming documentary on the network entitled
"Land of the Mammoth." The campaign, scheduled to run March 5-March
11th, is targeted toward Adults 25-54, with a male skew. Audio spots,
identical to the broadcast radio copy, will run on two of Cybereps
sites, Radiowave and TheDial.
According to Grace Collins,
(title) Creative Media, who orchestrated the media buy, "We are
very excited to enter this new medium, and to put streaming advertising
to work for our client. Creative Media has always supported and
believed in the growth of streaming media, and for innovative marketers
like The Discovery Channel, it is a perfect match. We also look
forward to extending our use of streaming to include additional
campaigns and clients."
Recent research shows that
the majority of media executives say that they are likely to recommend
streaming ad media to their clients within the next year.
Emily Beys, Vice President
of Cybereps, says, "Cable television has been one of the fastest
growing categories for broadcast radio over the past several years
for one reason - it drives viewers to the networks. Now, forward-thinking
advertisers, like The Discovery Channel, are recognizing that if
it works on radio, it can work on streaming audio. We believe this
pattern will continue across many traditional ad categories."
Cybereps is the first interactive marketing and integrated media sales and web
publishing company. Formed by the merger of Cybereps and Interep Interactive,
the company specializes in ad sales, marketing, and streaming media sales for
some of the web's best content sites and networks. Cybereps is known for quality,
service and its creativity in developing and implementing distinctive sponsorships,
integrated media packages and promotional campaigns. Cybereps publishes The Future
Games Network (FGN), TotalTech.com, and Totalwoman.com, three prominent vertical
content networks. Cybereps clients include Reuters, adsGuide, HowStuffWorks, AutoWorld.com,
BizReport, bonus.com, Cydoor, Coupons.com, FmiTV, Giant Rewards, Hot Telephone,
iBeam, Nutrio, Peel, Planet Source Code, RadioWave, WebBuilderZone, RootsWeb,
SiteExperts, Batanga, and laMusica, among many others. The company has offices
in San Francisco, New York, and Los Angeles.
