Agency Media Executives Predict Boost to Streaming Dollars in 2001
New York: Cybereps, an Interep
company (IREP: NASDAQ), announced today that it continues to focus
on growing its streaming audio sales division, and has recently
acquired five new clients. These streaming sites include TheDial,
Hard Radio, Radio Amp, Internet Radio DAER and 3WK. Cybereps is
now the leading streaming sales organizations in the industry, with
a network of streaming sites reaching over 22 million unique visitors
per month. In addition, Interep is the sole radio rep with an interactive
division, allowing the firm to offer advertisers fully integrated
media campaigns, including streaming audio.
According to Graham Keenan,
Executive Vice President for Cybereps and head of the streaming
initiative, "We are talking with more and more streaming sites who
are interested in using our services to market their product. Cybereps
is one of the few major players in the sales arena who are taking
the potential revenue from streaming quite seriously. As a result,
we're aggressively working on behalf of our streaming clients to
educate the ad community on the benefits of adding streaming audio
to a media plan."
In a recent study from Measurecast,
65% of 100 advertising agency executives said that they are likely
to recommend streaming media to their clients within the next 12
months. In addition, 56% of those who had already spent money on
streaming media say that their spending on streaming advertising
is likely to increase within the next year.
Kim Vasey, Senior Vice President
of The Radio Edge, a division of The Media Edge, says "From the
start, we have taken a very active interest in streaming media and
the benefits that it can offer our clients. As the tools to evaluate
streaming properties continue to improve, we will be better able
to integrate these streaming properties into our overall radio plans,
adding an interactive, or even direct response component, to traditional
buys. I think it is fair to say that within the next year we will
begin to see more media plans that include some sort of streaming
effort."
Keenan adds, "We are seeing
advertisers' interest in streaming media grow every day, as research
continues to tell us that a growing number of highly desirable consumers
are sampling the medium."
According to a recent Arbitron/Edison
Media Research report, 61 million Americans, or 27% of the population,
have accessed streaming media in the past year. Moreover, 30 million
Americans (13%) now use Internet audio or video at least once a
month, up from 10% in January, 2000.
